Montserrat is a multi-peaked mountain range near Barcelona, in Catalonia. It is well known as the site of the Benedictine abbey, Santa Maria de Montserrat.

You will start your day 4,000 feet above sea level, in the spectacular Montserrat National Park. In this area, you will have the chance to explore some of the beautiful nature trails, admire the jaw-dropping 360º views of the countryside below, and take amazing pictures sure to make the people back home feel jealous. While at Montserrat, you can also visit the Benedictine Santa Maria monastery the 
3Museum of Montserrat and the 
4Sant Miquel view point. This fantastic display of gothic architecture is over 1,000 years old and can be found nestled halfway up the mighty Montserrat mountain. You must also visit the Basilica, home to the famous statue of the Black Madonna, patron saint of Catalonia. Here you can also see fantastic artifacts and painting from the great El Greco.
If you are lucky enough to be visiting Montserrat on a weekday, then you can sit in on a performance from the Escolania all-boys choir. This is the oldest boy’s choirs in the whole of Europe, and a great tradition in this area of Spain. If you have a little extra time at this point in the tour, then you can also pay a visit to the Montserrat audiovisual museum to hear all about the monks that used to call this mountain home.
After an exhilarating morning in the mountains, your driver will then take you down to the world-famous Sant Sadurni d’Anoia area. Sant Sadurni d’Anoia has over 450 years of winemaking experience, and the biggest underground wine cellars in the world, where the first bottle of Cava was made. At this point, you have the chance to have a private wine tasting (Kindly note that this part if fully optional and includes and additional cost of 19 Euro per person, or 150 per group if you wish to have a guided tour of the winery included. The Segura Wineries offer a guided tour with an English-speaking member of the staff. Before exploring the stunning vineyards, take your time to sit down for a delicious wine tasting or an authentic Spanish lunch.
Once you have had your fill of the bubbly stuff, you will head back to your Welcome car, and your driver will take you on a lazy afternoon drive back to your accommodation in Barcelona.

This was absolutely my favorite thing we did the whole trip! Cesar was great - so nice, funny, personable, super knowledgable about everything. Monserrat was beautiful. The lunch we had was some of the best food we had in Barcelona and the wine was plentiful. The winery was also beautiful and the wines were so good. Just so cool to get a tour from the actual wine maker. I wished we had booked more tours with them!
This was a great full-day trip going to Montserrat, then a traditional Catalan lunch in a nearby village, then to a winery for wine and cava tasting. There were only three of us, plus our wonderful driver, Angel, so it was a really nice size to be able to ask questions and feel like you were getting personalized attention. Montserrat is really beautiful. Even as a completely non-religious person, I enjoyed the visit and thought it was interesting. We were above the cloud-line the entire time, so it felt otherworldly. Lunch was great, as was the very informative visit tot he winery. All in all, a great day that I would recommend if you are looking to see something outside the city.
