Suggested Itinerary

Take a day trip from Lisbon to three western regions of Portugal — Fátima, Batalha, and Alcobaça — and discover some of the country’s most beautiful monasteries and churches. During this experience, you will visit the magnificent monasteries of Batalha and Alcobaça, as well as the world-famous shrine of Our Lady Fátima. Since this is a fully customizable trip, you can decide the order of your visits and how much time to spend at each location.

Your day begins with a personal pickup from your hotel or apartment in Lisbon. Your English-speaking driver will suggest a route featuring the key attractions worth visiting, while allowing you to tailor the itinerary entirely to your preferences. You will travel in an air-conditioned, spacious vehicle equipped with Wi-Fi, water, and light snacks to ensure a comfortable ride. Along the way, you may stop at picturesque viewpoints, appreciate Portugal’s landscapes, and, upon request, enjoy a meal at a local restaurant recommended by your driver.

After approximately 1.5 hours, you will reach the town and parish of Fátima, located 140 km north of Lisbon. Here, you will find the famous Sanctuary of Our Lady Fátima, one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage sites in the world. Built in the early 20th century, it captivates visitors with its grand architecture and powerful spiritual significance.

Your next stop is Batalha, about 30 minutes from Fátima. The town is best known for the Batalha Monastery, built in the Middle Ages to thank the Virgin Mary for Portugal’s victory in the Battle of Aljubarrota. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, the monastery impresses with its striking Gothic architecture.

A short 25-minute drive then brings you to Alcobaça, a town renowned for the magnificent Alcobaça Monastery. Combining Gothic and Baroque elements, this UNESCO-listed monument is admired for both its exterior grandeur and beautifully crafted interior.
