Half-Day Sightseeing in Thessaloniki

From the White Tower you will then make your way up to Ano Poli, where you will find both the Rotonda, and the Triumphal Arch of Galerius. This is the perfect stop to get out your cameras and take some snaps of the most iconic historical monuments in Thessaloniki. The Arch, also known as Kamera, is one of the most favoured meeting points for both locals and tourists, as its dominating presence in the upper part of the city can’t be missed. Whilst in this area you will have the opportunity to explore the Benzantine walls that surround, and protect the city centre. At one stop along the wall you will find the Trigonio Tower, built in the 15th century this tower completes the triangle of defence used by the Turks.

Your next stop will be the in the most central Aristotelous Square, the biggest and most impressive square in the whole of Northern Greece. This beautiful display of architecture was completely redesigned and rebuilt after the devastating fire in 1917, and is now the home to many monumental, luxury mansions. From here you can take a stroll quick stroll down Nikis Avenue across the seafront, where you will find many lovely cafés and restaurants to enjoy your authentic Greek lunch. 

After resting your feet, and stocking up on energy at lunch, you will then take a short journey to the Thermaikos Gulf. The Gulf is probably one of the most beautiful areas in the city, and there are many sunset boat tours for you to enjoy here after your Welcome ride has ended. After you’ve finished gazing out across the sparkling waters, simply turn around to see some of the most amazing panoramic views of the city. 

In close proximity is one of the most significant Christian monuments, and the largest church in Greece, the Agios Dimitrios. Take a trip into the past by visiting the underground crypt housing Dimitrios’ beautiful relics, and gazing at the colourful 8th century mosaics that spanning the original alter. Your last stop of the day will be the Archeological Museum of Thessaloniki, where you will be able to enjoy the fascinating history of this wonderful city at your leisure. Once you have finished in the museum, your welcome driver will be waiting to pick you up and drop you back at your accommodation, or any of the points of interest you have seen throughout the ride.
