In 1.5 hours you will reach the town and Parish of Fátima, situated 140 km North of Lisbon. There you will find the famous sanctuary of Our Lady Fátima which is one of the most significant Catholic shrines in the world. Built in the early 20th century, it fascinates travelers with its magnificent architecture and attracts thousands of pilgrims from all over the world.
Next, you will head to Batalha, another town in the North, accessible in just 30 min by car from Fátima. The city is best known for Batalha Monastery, built in the Middle Ages to thank the Virgin Mary for the Portuguese success in the fight of Aljubarrota. The convent of Batalha is UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983. You will be impressed by its Gothic shapes and structure.
In 25 min from Batalha, you will reach Alcobaça, a town which attracts travelers from the whole world to see the glorious Alcobaça Monastery. Combining the styles of Gothic and Baroque the monastery fascinates by its exterior and interior. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well.
