Day Trip From Lisbon to Évora

Take a day trip from Lisbon Évora, the UNESCO-listed town, located 135 km East from the capital.

Your day will begin with a personal pickup by your English-speaking driver from your hotel or apartment in Lisbon.

In approximately 1.5-hour, you will reach 2Évora, a historical city in Southeast Portugal, known for being on the list of UNESCO.

During your time in Évora, you will have a chance to stroll around its old city and see some of the most important landmarks there. 3Evora Cathedral, a Roman Catholic church dating back to the 18th century, is one of them. Nearby you will also see Fonte da Porta de Moura, a marble fountain which catches one's eye from a distance. 

Within a few minutes ride, you will reach one of the most important sights in Évora - the 4Roman Temple. This ancient temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and dates back to the 1st century of our era. It was built to honor Augustus, a Roman military leader and the first Emperor of the Roman Empire.

Another significant attraction in the town is the bone chapel, in Portuguese called Capela dos Ossos. This macabre chapel leaves visitors speechless since its walls are lined with real human bones.

You should also see Évora aqueduct, an architectural monument from the 16th century and example of technical construction knowledge.

Megaliths of Cromlech Almendres is worth your attention as well since it is a place of standing stones which were constructed in the 5-6th century BC. Patterns and various engravings can be found on the stones which remind everyone of the prehistoric era in South Western Europe.
