Had a terrific tour of the major sites in Toledo. Our driver Fernado was absolutely superb. She was very well informed, personable, and had a great sense of humor. His academic background truly made this tour a highlight of our trip to Spain. Highly recommended.
You can visit all the places from the list or pick only the ones you like. Just inform your driver about your choice before the ride. During the stops you can do whatever you want: visit the landmarks, take pictures, ask your driver about the place e.t.c. Take as much time as you want within the overall time limit of the trip.

About the ride
On the morning of the tour, your Welcome driver will pick you up directly from your accommodation, and you will set course towards the fascinating city of Toledo. The journey from Madrid to Toledo only takes around an hour, so sit back, enjoy the free snacks on board, and admire the beautiful Spanish scenery. Although every aspect of your tour is customizable, and points of interest can be added or taken away, the following itinerary is one we suggest as a base.
Once you arrive in Toledo, your first stop will be in the Jewish Quarter. Get out of the car, stretch your legs, and take in all the stunning 13th century architecture. In this area you will find the oldest standing synagogue in Europe, Santa Maria La Blanca. Once the city’s beloved synagogue, now a fascinating museum showing the cooperation of the three cultures that populated Toledo: Christian, Islamic and Jewish. A few streets away you will can also see the 12th-century St. Tome Church. This church’s magnificent tower is one of the best representations of the Mudéjar art in Toledo, and inside hangs one of El Greco’s most famous paintings, the ‘Burial of the Count of Orgaz’.
If the lovely painting on display in St. Tome Church sparked your interest, then your driver can take you to the Museo de Greco, found just a few blocks away. This fabulous museum is designed to look like the house that Greco himself lived out his life in, in Toledo. Here you can find many of his later pieces, along with the artefacts that inspired him to create those beautiful pieces of art. Once you have finished admiring the work of El Greco, it is time to pause for a lunch break. Your driver will happily recommend a restaurant for you to enjoy your Spanish lunch, or you can explore the city a little and find a place that suits you.
After your delicious meal, you will head over to the Old Town to see the spectacular Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo. This 13th-century Cathedral is considered by experts as the magnum opus of the High Gothic style found throughout Spain. With its jaw-dropping architecture, intricate engravings and masterful incorporation of light, this cathedral is a must see when in Toledo.
Your next stop will take you over the Río Tajo, to the beautiful castle of San Servando. With stunning gardens, and great views of the river one can see why this medieval castle has been featured in one of El Greco’s paintings. Once a monastery for monks, then a fortress for the Knights Templar, this castle is dripping with history.
At this point, you can choose to spend the rest of your time exploring the city of Toledo, perhaps doing a little souvenir shopping and sampling some of the famous candy made by local nuns, or you can take a short trip to the city of Aranjuez.
Just 30 minutes away from Toledo is the lovely little city of Aranjuez. Here you will find the beautiful Aranjuez Palace, a building with such grandeur: lavishly decorated with porcelains, tapestries and engraved columns. Whilst in Aranjuez you must pay a visit to the spectacular Jardín de la Isla, a stunning man-made island surrounded by the River Tagus and the Tagus Canal. Before you leave the city, ask your driver to take you to the Museo de las Falúas Reales to see the outrageously beautiful royal barges.

Our customers rate us excellent on Tripadvisor and other platforms
I can't say enough wonderful things about our excursion. We booked a day trip for five couples to Toledo from Madrid. Our guide Cesar was very knowledgeable and had a great personality. The bus was very new and clean. Cesar worked with us to make sure everything went off as planned. If you are planning a visit to Spain I definitely recommend using Welcome to book your excursions.
Fernado was our driver. She was very knowledgeable about Jewish history in Toledo, and besides that, he was charming.
We wanted an experienced guide to take us through the Jewish Quarter as well as the Cathedral. Cesar picked us up exactly on time and was fantastic. He is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Toledo and Spain and is very personable and passionate about what he does. Would highly recommend.
