There are many places to visit in Ávila. The Walls of Ávila will capture your attention right after you step out of the car. These fortifications built in the Middle Ages are one of the most complete in the whole country. Their huge size and precise shapes are something we see only in the movies.
Ávila Cathedral is another architectural masterpiece in the town which attracts travelers from all over the world. This Catholic church impresses by the detailed facades and the gothic shapes. It represents the Gothic and Romanesque architectural styles and is among the oldest ones in Spain.
Santo Tomas Royal Monastery is also worth the visit. It has three magnificent cloisters (Noviciado, Silencio, and Reyes), the latter being the largest of the three. Reyes cloister is also a home for Oriental Art Museum.
You should also see one of the best examples of the Romanesque architecture in the country - Basilica de San Vicente.
You will see the spectacular panoramic views of the town and the surrounding area from the small hill with The Four Posts. This little shire is a gem of Ávila, visited by thousands of travelers and beloved by locals.
