Today we took the tour “Athens and Cape Sounion” and absolutely loved it. It's actually our last day here, and we already went all around Athens - we wanted to spend our last day with a local who gave us a little more perspective about the Greek history, and that's exactly what we got. After sending one email, we got a very clear email confirming availability. Our amazing tour guide arrived at the hotel even before he promised and then we had a great drive down to Sounion. Barely noticed the time spent in the car as we heard beautiful stories and historical facts by our tour guide, including a few important spots that are must sees. Once we got to beautiful Sounion, we were taken to the best spots. We can confidently say that we made the best out of our day!!

About the ride
Your Welcomer will serve as your local guide who will share the historical facts, the necessary information about the sights and, of course, his personal input in order to immerse you into the Athenian lifestyle. The sightseeing ride is totally private and personalised, meaning that, together with your driver, you can choose which of the suggested stops you wish to make and the time to allocate to each one. There is always a suggested itinerary to follow but you are free to customise it according to your preferences.
The Sightseeing Ride can include many interesting stops visitors always enjoy. Firstly, the famous 1Acropolis Hill & Museum where you can admire the elegant temple of the Parthenon and after that, the modern Acropolis Museum that houses impressive statues and artifacts of the ancient Greek civilisation.
Another idea would be to stroll along Dionysiou Areopagitou Street, a pedestrianized street adjacent to the south slope of the Acropolis where you can also admire the ancient Theatre of Dionysus and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. The heart of the city beats around the 2Constitution Square, in Greek Syntagma, the meeting point for both tourists and locals. If you are lucky, you may witness the 3Change of Guards ceremony. Your tour will not be complete unless you visit 5Panathenaic Stadium or Kallimarmaro as Greeks call it.
After exploring downtown Athens, your driver will escort you to the most spectacular viewing point of the 6Lycabettus Hill, the highest hilltop of modern Athens. Surrounded by pine trees and with a breathtaking panoramic view of the city that stretches all the way to the Port of Piraeus, it is the perfect spot for taking some fantastic photos and enjoying the scenery for a few moments.
After descending the Lycabettus Hill, your Welcome driver will set course for Cape Sounion, the southern-most tip of the Attica peninsula. Located approximately 65 kilometers outside of the center of Athens, it is a relaxing seaside drive along the western coastline with a view of the Aegean sea. The cosmopolitan town centers of Glyfada, Voula and Vouliagmeni are all buzzing with bars, cafes and seaside restaurants that attract people from all over Athens. The Athenian Riviera is the perfect location for you to have dinner or a cup of coffee while looking out over the Aegean sea and enjoying the Mediterranean sea breeze. It is also home to 8Vouliagmeni Lake, a must-see geological phenomenon made up of thermal springs and underwater caves leading out to the sea.
Once you have enjoyed your seaside dinner, the coastal drive continues to 7Cape Sounion and the Temple of Poseidon. Though relatively remote in comparison to the city center, the majestic Temple of Poseidon is an important landmark and holds significant historical and cultural value for Athenians. Not only can you explore the historical monuments on site, but the Cape also offers a fantastic panoramic view of the blue Aegean sea. End your experience by enjoying the breathtaking sunset from this unique viewing point while looking out onto the Greek Islands.
After exploring Cape Sounion you will return to Athens on the same relaxing coastal route, and your friendly Welcome Driver will drop you back off at your hotel or apartment.

We had a wonderful full day tour. Dimitris was really intersting, explaining all about the temples, the area but also the country himself and the origine. Dimitris really know his job, taking you to small access with less people and taking wonderful pictures. He always have a smile on his face and will be very happy to answer any question. You talked about our country, similarity and exchange many thought, philosophy spirituality and religion. Thank you for everything and we will definitely recommend this tour!
We had booked our tour few weeks back before our visit to Athens in Aug. The reply was prompt and a lot of information about the itinerary was given. Our tour guide, Mr Nick is a great driver who has given us a lot of in sight about the history of each temples we visited. Would definitely recommend for those who wish to have a pleasant tour in Athens and Sounion!
Our driver Alekos was fantastic! He knew exactly where to take us and was extremely knowledgeable about Athens history and culture. He was very patient with an elderly limited-mobility family member, and geared our tour accordingly. His lunch recommendation was fantastic! Great view and food. He was even happy to stop at a pharmacy and grocery and gift shopping along the way. Alekos even translated at the pharmacy for us. We were in great hands and saw parts of the city we would not have seen otherwise.
