About the ride
On the day of your choosing, a Welcome driver will pick you up from your accommodation and take you on the lovely journey to Girona. The journey from Barcelona to Girona takes around an hour, so it gives you plenty of time to relax, enjoy the free refreshments onboard, and soak up the beautiful Spanish countryside. Although you can completely customize your tour, the following itinerary is one we suggest.
Once you arrive in the old city of Girona, your driver will take you to the historic Jewish Quarter. The is the perfect place to get out of the car and stretch your legs while admiring the beautiful medieval streets. In this area you can find the traditional Arab Baths, the gothic Collegiate Church of Sant Feliu, and the ancient Cathedral of Girona. Climb the 86 steps of the Cathedral and get a close-up view of Catalan Architecture created by Jaume Fabre.
Your driver will then take you past the famous Onyar river so you can admire all the lovely little colored houses resting on its banks, and perhaps stop to take some iconic Girona photos. Your next stop will be at one of the most popular landmarks in the city, the medieval City Walls. If you have time, you can walk the entire length of the walls and climb the lookout towers, where you can enjoy stunning panoramic views of the city below.
As you near the middle of your tour, you can take a break and enjoy an authentic Spanish lunch. Ask your driver for a restaurant recommendation, or take a walk around the centre of the city to find your perfect spot. After you have restored some of your energy, you can choose to spend the rest of the day exploring Girona, or you can visit the two nearby towns: Pals and Peratallada.
Pals is a quaint medieval village full of cobblestone streets, gothic architecture and lovely little cafes. While in this town, be sure to check out the famous Roman style Torre de les Hores, a huge tower standing proudly above the other buildings. Peratallada is an extremely well-preserved feudal village, best known for its stone buildings, carved from the moat which encircles most of the city. This village is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing cup of coffee before embarking on the return journey to Barcelona.
Once you have finished exploring the lovely villages of Pals and Peratallada, your driver will take you on a leisurely afternoon drive back to your accommodation in Barcelona, concluding your tour of Girona.

Can I customize the tour based on my needs?
Of course, that is one of the main benefits of having a Welcome experience. You can customize every last bit of the experience, from points of visit to time spent per landmark to adding in an extra food stop.
Will there be an official tour guide?
An official tour guide is not included because the overall experience is centered around the driver and the local’s perspective. Although the drivers are very knowledgeable regarding the points of visit, at no point can they be compared with a licensed tour guide who can give more in depth information regarding historic facts and information. If you would like to include an official tour guide in the experience please let us know via email after the booking is completed.
Do I need to be in a good physical shape?
The drivers are trained to adapt the experience depending on the type of participants. Whether you have kids or elders participating, the drivers know exactly how to handle special requests and provide an enjoyable experience accordingly.
Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes and be equipped with wet weather gear if rain is expected. In addition, please note that religious sites require modest attire- knees and shoulders must be covered.
BOOK YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE
We strongly recommend booking any entrance tickets in advance. You can ask your Welcome driver about prices, times and general information on tickets.
BE AWARE OF THE HEAT
In the summer months be sure to wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and perhaps a hat, to shield yourself from the sun. We also recommend staying hydrated throughout the tour with the water provided.
Bring cash in the form of local currency (Euros), as many of the local vendors don’t accept card payments.
SPECIAL NEEDS & ACCESSIBILITY
