About the ride
On the morning of your tour, a friendly Welcome driver will pick you up directly from your accommodation in Barcelona and take you on a relaxing drive to the Montserrat mountain range. The journey from Barcelona to Montserrat takes around 45 minutes and passes through some of the most beautiful countrysides in Catalonia. Although every aspect of your tour can be changed and personalized, the following itinerary is one we suggest.
You will start your day 4,000 feet above sea level, in the spectacular Montserrat National Park. In this area, you will have the chance to explore some of the beautiful nature trails, admire the jaw-dropping 360º views of the countryside below, and take amazing pictures sure to make the people back home feel jealous. While at Montserrat, you can also visit the Benedictine Santa Maria monastery. This fantastic display of gothic architecture is over 1,000 years old and can be found nestled halfway up the mighty Montserrat mountain. You must also visit the Basilica, home to the famous statue of the Black Madonna, patron saint of Catalonia. Here you can also see fantastic artifacts and painting from the great El Greco.
If you are lucky enough to be visiting Montserrat on a weekday, then you can sit in on a performance from the Escolania all-boys choir. This is the oldest boy’s choirs in the whole of Europe, and a great tradition in this area of Spain. If you have a little extra time at this point in the tour, then you can also pay a visit to the Montserrat audiovisual museum to hear all about the monks that used to call this mountain home.
After an exhilarating morning in the mountains, your driver will then take you down to the world famous Sant Sadurni d’Anoia vineyards. Sant Sadurni d’Anoia area has over 450 years of winemaking experience, and the biggest underground wine cellars in the world, where the first bottle of Cava was made. Here you will be able to take a tour of the impressive wine cellar and production rooms on a guided tour by one of the English-speaking members of staff. Before exploring the stunning vineyards, take your time to sit down for a delicious wine tasting and an authentic Spanish lunch.
Once you have had your fill of the bubbly stuff, you will head back to your Welcome car, and your driver will take you on a lazy afternoon drive back to your accommodation in Barcelona.
Combine your Day Trip to Montserrat by pre-booking your tickets to Montserrat. Your English speaking local driver will help you prebook the guided tour of your choice in Sant Sadurni d’Anoia.

Feel free to reach out to our customer service team at firstname.lastname@example.org for any specific questions regarding the experience.
Can I customize the tour based on my needs?
Of course, that is one of the main benefits of having a Welcome experience. You can customize every last bit of the experience, from points of visit to time spent per landmark to adding in an extra food stop.
Will there be an official tour guide?
An official tour guide is not included because the overall experience is centered around the driver and the local’s perspective. Although the drivers are very knowledgeable regarding the points of visit, at no point can they be compared with a licensed tour guide who can give more in depth information regarding historic facts and information. If you would like to include an official tour guide in the experience please let us know via email after the booking is completed.
Do I need to be in a good physical shape?
The drivers are trained to adapt the experience depending on the type of participants. Whether you have kids or elders participating, the drivers know exactly how to handle special requests and provide an enjoyable experience accordingly.
Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes and be equipped with wet weather gear if rain is expected. In addition, please note that religious sites require modest attire- knees and shoulders must be covered.
BE AWARE OF THE HEAT
In the summer months be sure to wear sunscreen, sunglasses, and perhaps a hat, to shield yourself from the sun. We also recommend staying hydrated throughout the tour with the water provided.
Bring cash in the form of local currency (Euros), as many of the local vendors don’t accept card payments.
SPECIAL NEEDS & ACCESSIBILITY
Please let us know if anyone in your group has special needs, or specific accessibility requirements, and we will be sure to accommodate your needs and tailor the tour accordingly.
